Since 1989, the Elizabeth Myers Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College has welcomed more than 285,000 visitors — from Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, nearly all 50 states and close to 100 countries.
Through world-class art, the Mitchell Gallery has taken visitors on a journey that transcends time, cultures and history.
It has served as a center of learning for the visual arts, offered educational programs, lectures, seminars, poetry readings, gallery talks and tours. To everyone. To thousands of school children. To those in underserved populations. To students. To senior citizens. To everyone that composes the community, regardless of age, background or education level.
It has opened its doors and invited volunteers to not only foster a culture of inclusion, but also to ensure that community service and outreach remains at the forefront.
Since 2012, it has continuously given local and international artists the opportunity to have their work on display in the only academic art museum in Maryland to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
