Mount Opens Historical Display in Miller Senate Office Building

Founded in Emmitsburg in 1808, Mount St. Mary's University celebrated the anniversary of the awarding of its original State charter February 27, 2008, with a reception following the unveiling of the historic timeline display on the third floor of the Miller Senate Office Building in Annapolis.

Founded in Emmitsburg in 1808, Mount St. Mary’s University celebrated the anniversary of the awarding of its original State charter February 27, 2008, with a reception following the unveiling of the historic timeline display on the third floor of the Miller Senate Office Building in Annapolis. The Maryland legislature granted the Mount its charter to operate as an institution of higher learning on February 27, 1830. Bicentennial medals were awarded to Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Senator Thomas “Mac” Middleton, Senator David Brinkley, Delegate Bill Frank, and MICUA President Tina Bjarekull. The exhibit will be displayed through November and can be viewed whenever the Senate Building is open to the public.
