BIC Alumnus Inducted into American Academy of Chefs

Chef Gary LeachBaltimore International College alumnus, Chef Gary Leach, was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs (AAC) during a ceremony at the 2009 American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Convention on July 10. The American Academy of Chefs is the honor society of the American Culinary Federation. The prestigious Academy recognizes those individuals whose outstanding achievements in the culinary profession and involvement in ACF deserve acknowledgement. AAC Fellows demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism within ACF, their communities, and the food-service industry.

 

Chef Leach is the executive chef for Centerplate at Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland. He is also the Delmarva Chefs & Cooks Association’s chairman of the board and was twice their chapter president. For his chapter, Chef Leach was named Chef of the Year in 2000, 2003, and 2008, and he earned the Chef Professionalism award in 2005 and 2008. In addition, he was the 2008 Maryland Restaurant Association Chef of the Year, and he has won numerous ACF medals in competition.
