We urge you to thank your elected officials for their support of the Sellinger Program.
For over 200 years, the State has supported independent higher education through different programs. Currently, the primary State support for independent higher education is through the Joseph A. Sellinger Program, which was established in 1973. The primary purpose of the Sellinger Program is to save taxpayer dollars by strategically using private resources to support a robust and diverse mix of higher education providers. In addition, the program is designed to provide increased access, choice, and opportunity for Marylanders. More than 80 percent of the Sellinger funds are used to provide financial aid to Maryland residents, and the majority of that aid is distributed based on need. There has never been a greater need for student financial aid.
MICUA appreciates the support of Maryland's elected officials for the Sellinger Program. We urge you to thank your elected officials for their support of this vital program and their partnership with Maryland’s independent colleges and universities.
